3. LIST of the Rungs on the Ladder of Social Mobility for Success
How does one succeed, get ahead, and attain a sense of personal freedom?
Peter Berger, in his text book Sociology, discusses the five ways.
Historically, in "the old days," there were only three ways:
1. Political Power
2. Money
3. Marriage
Added in modern times to the other three, and now the most important
for most people:
4. Education
5. Presentation (of self)
From this we can conclude that anyone with the commitment to succeed
and the willingness to follow any of the lists in this list, will be able
to succeed in life, personally, professionally, and financially.
Hence, Sandy Scarr's phrase, "opportunity breeds predestination."
